Why this university exists.
Christians have lived in the Middle East for two thousand years. Education is one of the few things that gives a young person a reason to build a life where they are — rather than somewhere else.
The reason
Christians were 12.7% of the Middle East's population in 1900. They are around 4% today. The causes are war, displacement, economic collapse and emigration — and emigration compounds: the young leave first, and they leave because there is nothing to stay for. Education does not solve this. But its absence accelerates it, and its presence is one of the few things that gives a young person a reason to build a life of consequence at home.
Saint Cyril University of the Middle East exists so that no Christian of this region — and no student of any faith who studies seriously beside them — is turned away from higher education by cost, paperwork, language, or geography.
The name
Saint Cyril of Alexandria was a Church Father venerated across the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox traditions alike — a name every church family of this region recognises as its own. The Pharos of his city, the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, lights our crest: light, guidance, and the East.
What we are building
An American education, delivered where our students are. Three schools — Computing & Technology, Business & Economics, and Behavioral & Health Sciences — offering nine bachelor's and four master's degrees, taught in cohorts led by trained facilitators, on curricula designed by credentialed professors. Every undergraduate also completes an AI & Digital Fluency Minor and a core in the Christian intellectual tradition — the formation that makes a university more than a training school.
And everything is engineered for our students' reality: materials download in advance, sessions survive a 2G connection, and a lost week — to a power cut, a shutdown, a life — is recoverable.
Open to all
Christian in foundation and service. No faith is required of any student, and every tradition is honoured on its own terms.
Free means free
Not deferred, not income-shared, not free-with-fees. A student who completes a degree with us pays nothing for it.
Truth before appeal
We publish what our degree is and is not — including recognition limits — before a student invests an hour.
